How platform fees compare

Every reselling platform takes a cut of your sale, but the amount and structure varies significantly. Vinted charges sellers nothing — buyers pay a protection fee instead. Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 on sales under $15, then jumps to 20% above that, making it one of the more expensive options for higher-priced items. eBay's 13.25% FVF applies to most categories and includes payment processing. Etsy stacks a listing fee, transaction fee, and payment processing fee, but the total is competitive for mid-range items.

The platform with the lowest fees isn't always the best choice — it depends on where your buyers are. But knowing the fee structure helps you price strategically and decide which platforms are worth listing on for a given item.

Notes on specific platforms

• eBay — 13.25% covers most reselling categories. Motors parts, real estate, and heavy equipment have different rates. eBay also charges fees on the shipping amount the buyer pays.
• Poshmark — The 20% fee above $15 is steep, but Poshmark handles shipping (buyers pay a flat label fee) so sellers don't need to think about shipping costs.
• Mercari — 10% selling fee plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing. Total effective rate is around 12.9% on most sales.
• Depop — 10% on the item price and any shipping the buyer pays.
• Etsy — $0.20 listing fee plus 6.5% transaction fee plus 3% + $0.25 payment processing. The listing fee applies each time an item sells and relists.
• Grailed — 9% commission plus approximately 3% + $0.30 payment processing through their payment processor.
• Vinted — No seller fees at all. Buyers pay a buyer protection fee on top of the listed price. Your full sale price is your payout.
